The criminal case against Pavel Gubarev, the former people's governor of the Donetsk region (present-day Donetsk People's Republic, DPR) region, on discrediting the army of the Armed Forces of Russia, was terminated by a court decision, an Izvestia correspondent reported on April 28.

The examination did not find any negative appeals in Gubarev's statements.

The administrative protocol against the former people's governor was registered on February 18. The case was initiated after his public statements that could affect the perception of the actions of the Russian military.

In 2014, Gubarev was elected people's governor of the Donetsk region at a rally in Donetsk, and a week later he was arrested by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). In the same summer, he was released by the Donetsk militia as part of an exchange. Later, Gubarev did not hold official positions in the leadership of the region.
