Tricolor will double the number of transponders by 56°
Tricolor and SE Kosmicheskaya Svyaz have reached an agreement on the operator's lease of additional transponders on the Express-AT2 satellite, which was moved from an orbital position of 140° to 56° in early April. This step is aimed at developing the Tricolor channel plan.
Tricolor will lease four more transponders for Express-AT2. Thus, the operator uses eight transponders for broadcasting from 56°. Renting additional capacities on the satellite will allow Tricolor to expand the number of TV channels for its customers. In May, about 200 TV channels, including in HD format, will be available to subscribers receiving the signal from the Express-AT2 satellite.
"Tricolor continues to restore broadcasting at the 56° orbital position. We are doing everything possible to ensure that after the loss of the Express-AT1 satellite, subscribers have a full-fledged channel plan in high quality. Renting additional transponders is another step in this direction. Today we broadcast from three orbital positions using four satellites, and we want every customer, regardless of which satellite the antenna is tuned to, to have the opportunity to watch their favorite content," said Oleg Struchkovsky, Commercial Director of Tricolor.
Since mid-April, Tricolor subscribers have been receiving the TV signal from three orbital positions: 36° (Express-AMU1 and Eutelsat 36D), 75° (ABS-2A) and 56° (Express-AT2).
