A five-for-five exchange operation is underway at the state border between Belarus and Poland. This was reported by the BelTA news agency on April 28.

It is noted that the exchange was the result of complex and lengthy negotiations between the State Security Committee of Belarus (KGB) and the Polish Intelligence Agency, which were conducted on the direct instructions of President Alexander Lukashenko since September 2025.

The negotiations began after Lukashenko's address from individual leaders of friendly countries. He gave relevant instructions to the KGB and personally participated in discussing the details of the exchange with the allies.

"During the closed negotiations between the KGB of Belarus and the Intelligence Agency of Poland, due to different interests, it became necessary to include the special services of other countries in the process. In the end, special agencies of seven states participated in it," BelTA points out.

In December, the press secretary of the Belarusian president, Natalia Eismont, reported that more than 100 of the criminals pardoned by Lukashenko were sent to Ukraine in exchange for wounded Russians and captured Belarusians, for whom their relatives asked the president very much. As reported by the RBC-Ukraine agency, Belarusian politicians Viktor Babariko and Maria Kolesnikova are among the transferred persons.
