American psychologist and writer Edith Eger has died at the age of 98. This was announced on April 28 by her relatives on the social network Instagram (owned by Meta, whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

"She left under the careful supervision of her family and dedicated team," the publication says.

The cause of death is not specified.

Eger was born in Hungary in 1927. At the age of 16, she was sent to the Auschwitz concentration camp, from where she was released in 1945. After the war, she moved to Czechoslovakia and then to the United States, where she received a degree in psychology and worked with patients suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Eger wrote a memoir called "Choice," in which she talked about her family, her experiences in the concentration camp, and her practice in psychology.
