Russia has developed a new Bolt interceptor drone, which is a relatively cheap analogue of traditional air defense to repel massive attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This was reported to TASS on April 28 by the Popular Front, which provides support to developers.

A representative of the development company said that Bolt is part of the Ploshchad-PVO system, which combines detection devices, drone ports, launchers and interceptor drones themselves into a single network. It is noted that the UAV starts at the operator's command after confirming the target, hitting it as a result.

"The Bolt UAV, upon receiving a signal from radar stations, takes off from the transport and launch container and flies in fully automatic mode to a given square. After that, the optical homing head captures the target and hits it using a warhead or a kinetic method," he said.

On March 4, a serviceman of the air defense forces with the call sign Morok said that the newest Yelka interceptor drone, equipped with artificial intelligence (AI), is able to recognize targets invisible to the human eye. According to him, the Yelka is capable of hitting a wide range of targets, which include FPV drones, reconnaissance drones and aircraft-type attack drones.

On March 17, one of the soldiers of the 55th Guards Marine Division, with the call sign Taiga, shared his experience working with drones equipped with AI. He noted that he was initially skeptical about such devices, as he was used to controlling targets himself and directing them to the right point. However, according to him, the new UAVs with artificial intelligence have done a great job, changing his understanding of the capabilities of drones.
