The establishment of control over the settlement of Zemlyanki in Ukraine contributes to the expansion of the security zone along the Russian state border. This was announced on April 28 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

"The establishment of control over the settlement of Zemlyanki in the Kharkiv region contributes to the expansion of the security zone along the Russian border," the report says.

It is specified that control over the settlement was established by units of the North group of forces during active operations in the zone of a special military operation. During the fighting, the assault groups gained a foothold in the village, after which the buildings were cleared and the territory was cleared of mines.

The ministry added that the group's units continue to advance in several directions in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions, moving forward and pushing the enemy away from the border.

Maneuverability, control of logistics routes and the use of natural factors will be key elements of the summer campaign.

The liberation of the settlement of Zemlyanki in the Kharkiv region became known on April 28. Ilyinovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) was also liberated. The Ministry of Defense clarifies that the North group of troops defeated the manpower and equipment of the mechanized, motorized infantry brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), as well as two air defense brigades in the areas of Sosnovy Bor, Liptsy, Krasny Yar and Varvarovka settlements of the Kharkiv region.
