The head of the ROAD announced the future of the Chery brand in Russia
Although Chery is reducing its activity in Russia, the brand's office in the country will not disappear, even though it is shrinking. The company will continue to provide maintenance services for sold vehicles, supply spare parts, and cooperate with the Tenet brand, whose vehicles are based at Chery and manufactured in Kaluga by the AGR Group. This was stated by Alexey Podshchekoldin, President of the Association of Russian Automobile Dealers (ROAD).
"Chery has plans for other international markets. There is some kind of cooperation going on with Land Rover. The concern is expanding to the EU and South America. And now they are abstracting from a brand that will work all over the world <...So the Chinese, despite the fact that, in general, they are indifferent to sanctions, they still take into account the restrictions that exist now," Rossiyskaya Gazeta quoted Podshchekoldin as saying on April 28.
However, the head of the ROAD noted that there should be a law so that each manufacturer in Russia carries certain guarantees to customers and manufacturers' responsibility for the cars produced. Then customers won't have to worry about not being able to buy spare parts if the brand has left the market. He cited the example of the Lifan brand, which sold 170,000 cars and left the market, and spare parts for its car became unavailable.
As reported on April 23, a plant for the production of automobile engines of AGR Holding and Defetoo was launched in Kaluga for all car models produced at joint partner plants in Russia, including Tenet and Jeland brands.
