The Red Square Book Festival will be held from 4 to 7 June.

More than 400 publishing houses from all over Russia will offer the guests of the festival about 150 thousand titles of books, including national literature in all its diversity.

The festival will be held at 15 thematic venues: "Fiction", "Poetry", "Children's and educational literature", "Non-fiction", "Regions of Russia", "Library", "Small Stage", "Union of Writers of Russia", "Museum Line", "Comics", "Antique and a second-hand book", "History of the Fatherland", "Literary Lounge", lecture hall "Reading space: the territory of the future" and, of course, "The Main Stage".

For the first time, the site of the Writers' Union of Russia will operate on Red Square. More than 40 events are planned for it.

For the second time, a platform dedicated to poetry will bring together lovers of the elegant word. Poetic lines from classics and contemporaries will be played non-stop over the square throughout the days of the literary marathon.

This year, the Festival will pay special attention to events dedicated to the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. It is not the first year that a unique project in its content and meaning, the Festival of National Literatures, has been held within the framework of the Red Square. Its central theme this time will be the 10th anniversary of the Program for the Support of National Literatures of the peoples of Russia. Nine anthologies of modern literature in the languages of the peoples of Russia have already been published within its framework, and the tenth anniversary edition is currently being prepared for publication. There will also be a poetry marathon in national languages. Modern authors will present their works both in their native languages and in Russian translations. Special attention will be paid to the classical heritage: poems by Gabdulla Tukai, Rasul Gamzatov and other poets, whose work remains relevant today, will be performed.

This year's jubilee writers - Vladimir Dahl, Mikhail Saltykov—Shchedrin, Alexander Fadeev, Agnia Barto, Mikhail Yasnov - will definitely be remembered on Red Square. On June 6, Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin's birthday will traditionally be celebrated, with events taking place both on Red Square and at the monument to the poet.

The Festival will open with a concert program dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Dmitry Shostakovich's birth, performed by the orchestra conducted by People's Artist of Russia Yuri Bashmet and soloist of the Moscow State Philharmonic, Honored Artist of Russia Ekaterina Mechetina.

Russian Russian Academic Youth Theater, the Vakhtangov Theater, the School of Dramatic Art Theater, the Teresa Durova Theater, the Moscow Synodal Choir, the Bolshoi Theater of Russia Chamber Orchestra, the Academy of Russian Music Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Ivan Nikiforchin, and the Academic Orchestra of Russian Folk Music will present their programs on the "Main Stage". instruments named after N.N. Nekrasov of the Orpheus Television and Radio Center.

Artists from new territories of Russia are also invited to participate in the Festival — the guests will hear the chamber composition of the Symphony Orchestra of the Lugansk Academic Philharmonic.

Writers and poets Alexey Varlamov, Evgeny Vodolazkin, Igor Volgin, Vlad Malenko, Zakhar Prilepin, Anna Revyakina, German Sadulaev, People's Artists of Russia Evgeny Knyazev, Boris Shcherbakov, Alexander Galibin, Alexander Oleshko, Honored Artists of Russia Victoria Isakova, Igor Yatsko, Boris Berezovsky, Alexey Goribol, theater and film actors Sati Spivakova, Vladimir Koshevoy, Alexandra Kulikova, Gleb Puskepalis and other stars of the Moscow and St. Petersburg stage.

The results of the All-Russian competition of young readers "Living Classics" and the tenth anniversary season of the literary prize for young writers and poets "Lyceum" named after A.S. Pushkin will be summed up here.

The masters of modern Russian prose, the main writers and playwrights of the country will talk about their "creative cuisine" and new books at the site "Fiction". Among them are Vera Bogdanova, Eduard Verkin, Dmitry Danilov, Daria Dontsova, Denis Dragunsky, Katya Kachur, Asya Lavrinovich, Anna Matveeva, Alexandra Marinina, Marina Stepnova, Vadim Panov, Masha Traub, Tatiana Ustinova, Sergey Shargunov and many others.

A significant part of the Festival's territory will be occupied by the Children's and Educational Literature playground. Young readers, as well as their parents, will meet with their favorite authors – Andrei Usachev, Anastasia Orlova, Ekaterina Sobol and many others. The announcement of the 50 finalists of the eighth season of the All-Russian literary contest "Klass!" for the best short story will also take place here. This year, the first books that have already been published by the winners of the competition from different years will be presented at the Festival.

At the Regions of Russia site, more than 60 publishers will take part in the literary marathon and present rare books that cannot be found on the shelves of metropolitan stores. The program of the venue includes costumed folklore performances, presentations of new books and cultural discussions.

A large-scale program with the participation of famous authors of popular science literature awaits the guests of the book marathon at the Non-fiction site. Leading publishing houses producing journalistic, educational, scientific and popular science literature, as well as bookselling companies, literary museums and cultural foundations will be represented here.

For fans of hand—drawn stories, a separate program "Comics" will be prepared, in which the creators and publishers of graphic books — more than 20 publishers - will introduce the Festival guests to the most relevant novelties of this genre.

The Moscow Literary Megapolis site will consist of two parts: "Library" and "Small Stage". Film screenings, theatrical performances, poetry readings and concerts will take place on the "Small Stage". Lectures and discussions will be held in the Library tent, and it will also be traditionally possible to issue a single reader's ticket and take books from the collections of the capital's libraries at home.

A rich program prepared by the Russian Historical Society and the History of the Fatherland Foundation in cooperation with the Russian Military Historical Society awaits the guests of the Festival at the History of the Fatherland site. Reputable historians will talk about books relevant to both the professional community and the general public.

There will be a platform dedicated to the publishing and educational activities of museums, the Museum Line, located on the first floor of GUM. Here you can get acquainted with the newly published albums, catalogs and book novelties. Meetings with art historians and museum representatives, presentations of albums and catalogs of landmark exhibitions will be held at the Literary Lounge, located in the GUM Showroom, as well as at other Festival venues.

A separate professional program is also being prepared, within the framework of which topical issues of modern book publishing and book distribution will be discussed. The award ceremonies for the winners of the book contests "Malaya Rodina" and "The Image of the Book", as well as the award ceremony for the "Russian Detective" prize, will be held here in the "Literary Lounge".
