On April 28, a prisoner of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) spoke about the use of Mexican mercenaries in assault groups due to the fatigue of Ukrainian soldiers.

"The mercenaries were Mexicans, they were used for completely different purposes — as assault groups. No one in the team wants to fight, people are just tired of this attitude," said Andrei Shalduva.

According to him, the soldiers do not want to go to the positions, as this is a "one-way road." However, the Ukrainian command mocks them in every possible way to force them to follow orders, including tying people to trees.

He also said that he wanted to surrender to the Russian Army, but could not leave because he could be noticed by the Ukrainian troops, who, according to him, would have shot him for this.

On April 28, the mother of David Fernando Navarrete Aguirre, a Colombian mercenary who was eliminated in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, accused the Ukrainian side of human trafficking. Her son's colleagues told her that the recruited mercenaries suffered from a lack of food, water and household amenities, they were forcibly detained and forced to undergo "abnormal training for them."
