The area of forest fires in Transbaikalia decreased by 1.5 million hectares
Since the beginning of 2026, only 23 forest fires have been registered in the Trans-Baikal Territory. Compared to the same period a year earlier, the area of fires decreased by almost 1.5 million hectares, and the number of fires decreased by 304, according to RTK Transbaikalia.
"We also have 178 wildfires registered now, the area is 5,403 hectares. The decrease is also 4.5 thousand compared to the previous year," said Zorigto Dagbayev, head of the Department of State Supervision and Forest Protection of the regional Ministry of Forestry.
As the official noted, not all forest fires in Transbaikalia are eliminated on the first day. However, the authorities are trying to respond promptly and direct all their forces and means.
According to the ChitaMedia news agency, as of April 28, there is one forest and one natural fire in the region. They are located in Sretensky and Nerchinsk-Zavodsky districts and both are localized.
Earlier it was reported that since April 20, a special fire protection regime has been introduced throughout the territory of Transbaikalia. At this time, it is forbidden to burn bonfires, burn garbage and dry vegetation, carry out fire-hazardous work and visit forests.
