- The expert spoke about the changes in the Unified State Exam 2026 and the new requirements
In 2026, the main period of the Unified State Exam will begin on June 1. Despite the preservation of the general structure, assessment criteria and assignments have changed in a number of subjects. All the details are in the Izvestia article.
Adjustments in subjects
The Russian language exam in 2026 changed task 7, which now covers all types of grammatical errors. The parameters of the essay assessment in task 27 have also been revised. In particular, when checking literacy, a special procedure has been abolished for papers with a volume of 100 to 149 words. At the same time, according to the K5 criterion responsible for speech logic, the margin of error was expanded to obtain one point.
For the computer science exam participants, working with files will be an important change. In 2026, materials for individual tasks will be provided exclusively in *.ods, *.odt and *.txt formats. In literature, the primary score for comparative assignments 5 and 10 was reduced to seven, but the maximum score for the final essay was increased to 20, highlighting the criterion of factual accuracy in a separate point.
Typical errors
One of the main problems in preparation is the use of outdated manuals. Many students continue to train on the variants of previous years, without taking into account the annual updates of the demos and specifications of the FIPI. Also, points are often lost due to non-compliance with the required response format or a violation of the logical structure in the expanded part of the work.
Olesya Maerova, Head of the educational part of the Unified State Exam Center, emphasized the importance of proper allocation of efforts at the final stage. In her opinion, the last weeks before exams should not be used to dramatically increase the volume of new knowledge.
"During this period, it is more important to consolidate the material learned, streamline knowledge and bring the skills already developed to a stable level. Otherwise, even a good level of knowledge may not give the expected result," said Maerova.
Exam schedule
The main wave of the Unified State Exam starts on June 1, 2026. The schedule provides for reserve days from 22 to 25 June. For those who decide to exercise the right to retake one subject of their choice, additional dates are allocated — July 8th and 9th. This gives graduates the opportunity to improve their results before the end of the university admissions campaign.
In the last weeks before the tests, the specialist advises you to focus on analyzing recurring errors and working out the exam regime. Solving complete options with a timer helps graduates get used to the pace of work and learn how to distribute attention in a limited time environment. A systematic approach and consideration of the technical nuances of completing assignments remain crucial factors for obtaining a high score.
