Changes in climate, water, and usual vacation care can significantly affect your skin condition. Even with a stable condition, dryness, sensitivity, dullness or, conversely, excessive shine may appear in everyday life during a trip. Maria Verichenko, head of SOKOLOV BEAUTY, told Izvestia about this on April 29.

According to her, the main factors affecting the skin on vacation are the sun, sea or chlorinated water, wind and temperature fluctuations. The main stress factor is ultraviolet radiation, which accelerates moisture loss, weakens the protective barrier and can cause pigmentation.

"Regular use of SPF products becomes a basic element of care. It is important not only to apply them in the morning, but also to update them throughout the day, especially after bathing. A common mistake is to treat SPF as an additional step rather than a basic one. On vacation, this is a key element of care," Verichenko said.

Water exerts additional stress on the skin. Marine water increases dryness and tightness, while chlorinated water can cause irritation. After bathing, the specialist recommends rinsing the skin with clean water or using thermal sprays whenever possible.

In addition, wind and dry air also contribute to dehydration, especially in coastal regions. In such conditions, it is important to increase hydration and use products that help retain moisture in the skin.

The expert advised to build care according to a simple principle: in the morning — gentle cleansing, moisturizing and sun protection, in the evening — cleansing and restoration with the help of serums and more saturated creams. At the same time, it is better to abandon aggressive components such as acids or retinol during the vacation in order to avoid irritation.

Special attention should be paid to vulnerable areas such as the lips, neck, decollete area and the skin around the eyes, which react faster to external factors and need additional protection.

According to Verichenko, the optimal approach to vacation care is based on three principles: sun protection, adequate hydration, and delicate recovery. This allows you to minimize the negative impact of the external environment and maintain skin health even during active recreation and climate change.

Maya Karika, cosmetologist at SLOWMO beauty salon, said on April 10 that dry and polluted air in offices can cause skin dehydration and increase sensitivity. According to her, the barrier function of the skin is disrupted, and it becomes more sensitive, reactive, and visually less healthy.
