Finland's plans to lift the ban on the import and deployment of nuclear weapons increase the risk of their possible use and the emergence of a "nuclear winter" in the region. This was stated on April 27 by Florian Eblenkamp, coordinator of the International Campaign for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), in response to a request to comment on Helsinki's intentions.

According to Eblenkamp, the build-up of nuclear weapons in Europe does not increase the security of the region, but only increases the likelihood of miscalculations, accidents or deliberate use. ICAN, he told TASS, negatively assesses the initiative of the Finnish government to lift the ban on the deployment of nuclear weapons in force since the 1980s.
