The longest cucumber in Russia has been grown in Tatarstan
The longest cucumber in the country was grown in the village of Salmachi near Kazan, the achievement was officially recorded by INTERRECORD experts and entered into the Register of Records of Russia. This was announced on April 27 on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The vegetable of the Oriental Delicacy variety, 93 cm long and weighing 2.8 kg, was grown in an ordinary greenhouse by amateur gardener Emina Vakhitova. The woman said that she has been growing vegetables in a greenhouse for many years and this time she used the usual care, watering and organic fertilizers.
"But this cucumber grew differently. At some point, I stopped perceiving it as an ordinary crop and just watched how far it could go," the woman said.
The control measurements were carried out jointly with the staff of the Ministry. The obtained parameters made it possible to officially record the achievement and add it to the national register.
Earlier, on April 20, it became known that Russia ranks ninth among major economies in the world in terms of the availability of cucumbers, 1 kg of this vegetable costs an average of 217 rubles for a domestic consumer. At the same time, the lowest prices for cucumbers were recorded in Saudi Arabia — 64 rubles per 1 kg.
