The conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran may enter a protracted phase of limited confrontation without active hostilities, which experts compare to a "boring" or "imaginary" war (Sitzkrieg). This opinion was expressed by Bloomberg columnist Andreas Cloud on April 27.

"The war that the United States and Israel have unleashed against Iran has entered a new phase, which can be called a "sit—in war," a "boring war," a "military farce," or a "strange war," the article says.

We are talking about a situation where the war formally continues, but the parties avoid large-scale clashes and conserve resources. A similar pattern was already observed at the beginning of World War II, when, after the declaration of war, active hostilities temporarily ceased, limiting themselves to blockades and isolated incidents, the article notes.

In the current conflict, the United States and Iran also actually adhere to a fragile truce, combining it with mutual restrictions on navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. However, even this form of conflict comes with costs and risks. The lack of agreement between the parties highlights the continuing gap in positions. In particular, the fate of the Iranian nuclear program remains a key contentious issue.: The parties are unlikely to be able to agree on an approach to enriched uranium, which was previously one of the main causes of the conflict.

Such a state of "neither peace nor war" can drag on and increase uncertainty, from pressure on the global economy to the risk of a new escalation, despite a temporary decrease in the intensity of hostilities.

On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, said that the Iranian people are courageously and heroically fighting for their sovereignty. He added that the Islamic Republic has proved to the whole world that it can resist American aggression by resisting US attacks. Araqchi, in turn, told Izvestia that Tehran feels Moscow's support.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted on April 24 that the consequences of the actions of the United States and Israel in the Middle East are grave and that they will be felt for a long time. According to him, the United States cares only about its own well-being, and for this they are ready to use any means, including coups, kidnappings and assassinations of leaders of other countries.
