- The Russian Foreign Ministry announced the inclusion of EU representatives supporting Ukraine in the stop list.
Russia is imposing retaliatory restrictions on entry into the country against representatives of the European Union (EU) and European institutions who participated in supporting Ukraine, organizing anti-Russian sanctions and pursuing a hostile policy towards Moscow. This was reported on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry on April 27.
"As part of the reaction to the illegal decisions of the EU, the Russian side has significantly expanded the list of representatives of European institutions, EU member states and a number of European states that are integrated into the anti-Russian policy of Brussels, who, in accordance with <...> No. 114-FZ "On the procedure for leaving the Russian Federation and entering the Russian Federation", are prohibited from entering the territory of our state.", — the message says.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that the list includes officials of EU institutions, EU member states, as well as a number of other European countries. We are talking about those who participate in the preparation of decisions on military supplies to Kiev, engage in activities that undermine the territorial integrity of Russia, are responsible for imposing anti-Russian sanctions, causing damage to relations between the Russian Federation and third countries, and organize obstacles to navigation along sea routes in the interests of the Russian Federation.
In addition, the list includes people involved in the far-fetched persecution of Russian officials, initiating the creation of a "tribunal" against the Russian leadership, as well as advocating the illegal seizure of Russian state assets.
"The destructive policy of Brussels is not capable of having any impact on the foreign policy course of our country. Russia has been and remains committed to protecting its national interests, ensuring the rights and freedoms of its own citizens, as well as consistently participating in the formation of a just multipolar world order," the Foreign Ministry concluded.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on April 24 that Moscow would give a tough response to the 20th package of EU sanctions. She added that it will be developed in accordance with the interests of Russia.
The day before, the EU finally approved the 20th package of sanctions against Russia. As part of it, the Council of the European Union (EU) was given the opportunity to impose a complete ban on the maritime transportation of Russian oil and petroleum products. Transactions with 20 Russian banks were also banned. In addition, the restrictions affected Russian artist Timati (Timur Yunusov), Director of the Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT).
