- Putin pointed to the solidarity of Russians in the face of aggressive attacks against the Russian Federation
The people of Russia have reacted steadfastly and united to the aggressive attacks of other countries towards Russia. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with members of the Council of Legislators of the Russian Federation on April 27.
"Our people responded to pressure, threats, and openly aggressive attacks against Russia with unity and firmness <...> For us, love for the Motherland and the desire to defend it above all else. This is the meaning, the historical principle of a sovereign worldview, it is our strength, without it Russia cannot exist," he said.
The President added that those who hoped to undermine Russian society made a mistake because they do not know and do not understand the national character of Russians. According to Putin, the people, regional authorities and lawmakers are united in their efforts to deal with national threats and speak unanimously on many issues, including strengthening the country's defense capability and supporting participants in a special military operation.
Vladimir Putin, commenting on the upcoming elections, on April 1 called for preventing any external forces from influencing their results. He stressed that any attempts to use the upcoming process to destabilize the situation in society will be severely suppressed.
Yulia Mendel, the former press secretary of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, said on April 16 that Western countries' plans against Russia and its president Vladimir Putin had failed. According to her, the West's attempts to "collapse" the Russian political system have not been successful in four years, and this idea can be called a failure.
