The Russian Foreign Ministry pointed to Europe's policy of militarization and confrontation with Russia

European countries have embarked on accelerated militarization and are openly discussing preparations for a direct armed confrontation with Russia. This was announced on April 27 by the Director of the First Department of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Russian Foreign Ministry Mikael Agasandyan during the scientific and practical conference on collective security and partnership of the CSTO.

"The Europeans, having embarked on accelerated militarization, are already openly talking about preparing for a direct armed clash with Russia," he said.

The representative of the Foreign Ministry called such actions by the West an attempt to form a "cordon sanitaire" around the Russian Federation. In his opinion, the West is simultaneously trying to increase its economic, humanitarian and military presence in Russia's neighboring countries.
