Hero of Russia Anatoly Sysoev, a new member of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, will be in charge of assisting participants and veterans of a special military operation in exercising their voting rights, as well as organizing voting for military personnel. The relevant decision was made on April 27 at the CEC meeting.

"More than 1,000 members of our commissions have volunteered to leave. More than half of them are still serving. And our new colleague Anatoly Vladimirovich Sysoev will work more closely and more extensively in this area," said CEC Chairman Ella Pamfilova.

According to the decree, Sysoev will also be responsible for cooperation with the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation, state and public organizations on ensuring the electoral rights of ITS participants, improving voting in hard-to-reach and remote areas, as well as the use of unmanned vehicles in the electoral process.

In addition, responsibilities have been defined for the other two new members of the commission. Pamfilova noted that among the new challenges are the use of artificial intelligence, the development of electronic voter lists, as well as the use of unmanned and space technologies in organizing voting in remote areas.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on April 21 that the September 2026 elections would be held in difficult conditions. He also expressed confidence that all attempts to harm will be stopped, and voters will give preference to constructive political programs and ideas, patriots and people of cause.

Pamfilova said on April 1, during a meeting of the new CEC staff with Putin, that the Russian electoral system had proven its reliability and stability in the context of a special military operation. She also added that the main efforts of the CEC are directed inland, to increase confidence in the domestic elections.
