Sobyanin announced the opening of the renovated Kuzminsky overpass
Today, after a comprehensive reconstruction, the Kuzminsky overpass has reopened. The mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, told about this in his channel in the Maks messenger.
According to the mayor of the capital, the Kuzminsky overpass was built in 1960 for a more comfortable movement of cars along Volgogradsky Prospekt, one of the largest outbound highways in Moscow. Over 65 years of continuous use, the level of safety and reliability of the facility has significantly decreased. The capital's specialists have carried out a whole range of work to ensure that the overpass meets modern requirements again.
During the renovation, the load-bearing beams were completely replaced with a precast reinforced concrete superstructure. New crossbars and expansion joints were also installed, bridge structures and fences were replaced, intermediate and extreme supports were repaired, cones and embankment slopes were strengthened. At the same time, the work was carried out without blocking the passage along Volgogradsky Prospekt, the roadway was only partially blocked.
The reconstruction of the Kuzminsky overpass is part of a large—scale program of the Moscow government, which aims to increase the reliability and service life of transport infrastructure facilities. As part of the Gormost program, it has reconstructed and repaired about 60 bridges. Seven of them were repaired last year, including the Rostokinsky Aqueduct, the Skolkovo Bridge, the Kosino-MKAD and Krasnopresnensky highway overpasses, and the Varshavskaya-MKAD overpass. Work on the reconstruction of transport infrastructure facilities will continue this year.
