Archival documents formed the basis of the new season of the TV series "SMERSH"
The truth about the Great Patriotic War, which was classified as "secret", will finally become known. On May 3, the fourth season of the spy thriller "SMERSH" will be released on REN TV.
The action takes place in Moscow in 1944, where fascist agents are preparing to blow up the capital.
"They are a little twisted, a little invented, but their basis is real reliable events. Success primarily consists of two things. This is the right choice of actors and plot," explained director Mikhail Kabanov.
Film critic Nikolai Nikulin noted that actor Igor Petrenko, who became famous back in 2002 as a reconnaissance platoon commander in the film Zvezda, and Vladislav Kotlyarsky, who played a major and a police lieutenant colonel, have decent cinematic baggage for key roles in an action adventure.
Actor Petrenko admitted that as soon as he realizes that there is a sequel ahead, he immediately begins to tune in and adjust his physical fitness.
"Our enemy is cunning and strong, but we will still win," Petrenko said.
Kotlyarsky added that his hero and Lavrov's hero have different approaches, but together they form a good effective tandem.
Viewers will see two short stories at once: "Moscow-44" and "Operation Cerberus," where the German command plans to use biological weapons in Western Belarus. The series is one of the hundred most popular projects of 2025.
On April 26, REN TV channel presented the premiere of the action-packed detective series "Rooks", which takes place in post-war Leningrad. In the story, the city is shaken by a series of mysterious murders, and the tracks lead to a man who turns out to be not who he claims to be.
