An earthquake of magnitude 6.8 occurred in the western part of Mongolia. This was announced on April 27 in the Altai-Sayan branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"Prompt notification of a seismic event. <... Magnitude: 6.8. Intensity at the epicenter: 9.1 (on the MSK-64 scale)," the publication says on the service's website.

It is noted that the tremors were recorded at 07:23 Moscow time. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 556 km southwest of Kyzyl (Republic of Tuva).

An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 occurred in Mongolia the day before. The hearth was located at a depth of 15 km. The echoes of the seismic event were felt in the Chinese city of Urumqi, located in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China.
