Before the holidays, there is an increase in fraudulent crimes, as attackers actively use holiday dates in their schemes. This was announced on April 27 by Pavel Werner, Deputy head of the Siberian General Directorate of the Central Bank of Russia.

"Scammers actively use [holiday dates]. <...> We always have some kind of social payments [on the eve of the holidays], the news agenda is happening - scammers are right there," he said in an interview with TASS.

According to Werner, the attackers also use information about the increase in utility tariffs or prices for certain categories of goods. Scammers pay special attention to Black Friday, which takes place at the end of November and is associated with massive discounts on marketplaces.

The expert noted that fake websites similar to real store pages appear during this period. They advertise large sales on them in order to convince users to make a purchase.

Werner emphasized that buying goods on such a platform almost always leads to a loss of money. According to him, in the best case, a person will lose a certain amount, and in the worst case, they will lose personal data and face more significant damage.

On April 26, the Department for Combating the Illegal use of Information and Communication Technologies (UBK) of the Ministry reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has noted an increase in the number of phishing resources disguised as online stores of garden goods since the beginning of the summer season. The department explained that the attackers are creating websites that simulate sites for the sale of chainsaws, greenhouses, fertilizers and other equipment at low prices.
