- The media reported on the possibility of the headlights of the Chinese sedan Stelato S9 to project movies
Chinese automakers have equipped cars with headlights capable of projecting movies onto walls. This was reported on April 27 by Bloomberg, with reference to John Zhang, President of the Seres Group.
"The Stelato S9 sedan, developed by Huawei Technologies Co. and BAIC Motor Corp., is equipped with a system that not only illuminates the road, but can also project the latest Marvel movie onto a 100-inch screen on the street. The 2-megapixel headlights can also direct pedestrian crosswalk arrows and navigation pointers to the ground," the publication says.
It is noted that such developments show the desire of local companies to stand out in the highly competitive automotive market in China. According to Zhang, a similar feature has become one of the key advantages of the popular M line, which Seres produces jointly with Huawei under the Aito brand. He called the driver assistance system another important advantage.
The agency, based on data from Intelmarket Research, claims that the market for such advanced lighting systems was estimated at $1.1 billion in 2025 and is expected to roughly double over the next decade.
The article says that Huawei is also developing projection technologies inside cars. The company offers a system that can display images on sliding screens behind the front seats or use a raised trunk door for projection.
Earlier, on April 23, it was reported that the Chinese car brand Nio may enter the Russian market. It was clarified that these cars must be certified in the Russian Federation, and a Vehicle Type Approval (OTT) will be issued for them by October.
