US President Donald Trump said on April 26 that he was very disappointed with the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO).

"As for NATO, I am very, very disappointed in NATO," the head of the White House said in an interview with Fox News.

According to Trump, his dissatisfaction is caused by the fact that NATO members did not provide the United States with the necessary support when it was needed.

"We served them for many years, spent trillions of dollars, and when we needed a little help, they weren't around. Therefore, we must remember this," the President stressed.

On April 15, Trump spoke about the nature of Washington's relations with NATO, saying that the alliance had not provided support to the United States and would not provide it in the future. He expressed dissatisfaction with the refusal of a number of NATO countries to support the US military operation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Financial Times newspaper reported on April 10 that Trump lost his temper at a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte over the alliance's refusal to assist in a military operation against Iran. As specified, he was unhappy with the refusal of France, Spain and Italy to provide access to military bases.
