The suspect in the shooting at the reception of US President Donald Trump, Cole Thomas Allen, has prepared a written manifesto in which he declared his intention to attack US administration officials. He sent it to his relatives before the incident. This was announced on April 26 by Fox News journalist Jacqueline Heinrich, referring to information from the White House.
"The suspect's written manifesto clearly stated that he wanted to target administration officials. <...> Allen's brother notified the New London (Connecticut) police about Allen's alleged manifesto, which he allegedly sent to his family members before the incident," she wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Heinrich added that law enforcement agencies had questioned Allen's sister. She said that her brother was prone to radical statements and harsh statements, and also secretly kept two pistols and a shotgun in his parents' house.
Trump and his wife Melania were evacuated from the White House Correspondents' Association dinner on April 25 after the sounds of gunfire. Later, the American leader announced that the shooter had been detained.
According to the New York Post, the shooter turned out to be a 31-year-old man from California, Cole Thomas Allen. The federal prosecutor in Washington, Jeanine Pirro, said that the detainee after the shooting will appear in court on Monday, April 27.
Trump said that the shooter had several weapons with him. In addition, the US president noted that the attacker probably acted alone.
American political analyst Mark Lowe told Izvestia that the shooting at a dinner with the participation of US President Donald Trump could be a production organized to raise his rating. According to him, the assassination attempt could have been an internal operation, possibly involving the CIA and in collusion with Trump in order to receive political dividends.
