Ethiopian Assefa has updated her world record in the women's marathon
Ethiopian athlete Tigst Assefa broke her own world record in the London Marathon for women on April 26.
The 29-year-old runner won the London Marathon with a score of 2 hours, 15 minutes, 41 seconds. Assefa's previous world record also belonged to her, which she set at the 2025 London Marathon, finishing in 2 hours, 15 minutes, and 50 seconds.
Kenyan track and field athletes Helen Obiri (2 hours, 15 minutes, 53 seconds) and Joyceline Jepkosgei (2 hours, 15 minutes, 55 seconds) took the second and third places in the race.
On the same day, Kenyan representative Sebastian Sawe won the London Marathon with a world record. Sava became the first runner in history to run a marathon in less than two hours.
