Trump announced on April 25 that he would hold a press conference from the White House after the shooting at the annual Correspondents' Association reception.
The suspect in the shooting at the event with Trump was armed with a shotgun and was about to break through security, writes Axios. The publication added that the suspect shot at a secret service officer, who was not injured.
The US Secret Service said that employees, in coordination with the police department, are investigating the shooting incident. The President and the First Lady are safe, as are all protected persons. The suspect has been detained.
