The expert spoke about the hidden reasons for the ATM's refusal to issue money.
An ATM may not be able to issue money not only due to lack of funds or deterioration of the bank card, but also for security reasons. This was announced on April 26 by Tatyana Belyanchikova, Associate Professor of the Department of Global Financial Markets and Fintech at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.
"The main reason for such blockages is an attempt to prevent fraud or money laundering. If unusual actions have been performed with your card (for example, an attempt to withdraw a large amount in another city or country), the bank may block further operations until the circumstances are clarified," Belyanchikova said in an interview with the Prime agency.
The economist clarified that banks are required to comply with legislation on combating financial crimes. If the transaction is considered suspicious and non-standard, the bank can stop it.
According to the expert, if the ATM did not issue the money, then you should read the message on the screen. She also said that it was necessary to inform the bank about the situation, save the check or record the time and place of the incident.
If the transaction was rejected due to suspected fraud, you should call the bank's hotline. Belyanchikova clarified that the bank may require you to come to the branch and provide the necessary documents indicating the origin of the funds.
On April 25, the press service of the Moshelovka platform of the Popular Front reported that fraudsters paste fake QR codes on top of the real ones, after scanning which the user goes to a phishing site. The message clarified that it is necessary to check the availability of only the original QR code before scanning, not to enter banking information that is requested on a dubious website, and also to use only original applications for renting electric scooters.
