A felt aftershock of the seismic event that occurred on July 30 was recorded in the waters of the Avacha Bay. This was reported on April 25 in the press service of the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kamchatka Territory, with reference to the Kamchatka branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"The magnitude of the seismic event was 5.5. The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the waters of the Avacha Bay, 60 kilometers south-east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky city District," the press service said in a publication on its website.
According to instrumental data, in some areas of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Vilyuchinsky urban districts, as well as in Yelizovo, tremors could be felt with a force of up to 5 points.
It is specified that the threat of a tsunami has not been announced. The vital activity of the population is not disrupted.
The Altai-Sayan branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported on April 25 that an earthquake of magnitude 5.3 was recorded in Tuva. According to the agency, the seismic event occurred at 12:41 Moscow time.
