Sergey Menyailo opened the Year of Architecture in North Ossetia

The opening ceremony of the Year of Architecture in North Ossetia was held in the exhibition hall of the National Museum of the Republic in Vladikavkaz as part of the II Forum of Creative Industries "Caucasian Accent".

Opening the event, the head of the region, Sergey Menyailo, noted that the republic has a rich architectural heritage. According to him, it is necessary to preserve unique traditions and at the same time introduce modern technologies and approaches.

"The Year of Architecture is an occasion not only to remember the past, but also to turn to the future. We want to see our region modern, comfortable and aesthetically attractive. This means creating functional, energy—efficient buildings that meet the needs of our citizens, while carefully integrating into the existing urban and natural environment," said the head of the republic.

Menyailo expressed the wish that the Year of Architecture would be "a time for discussion, search for new ideas and implementation of bold projects." He expressed confidence that this approach "will help us better understand the value of our architectural heritage and take a meaningful approach to building a future in which beauty and functionality, tradition and innovation will be inseparable."

In turn, the first deputy chairman of the Government of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, Georgy Atarov, announced a competition for novice specialists for the best art object for the improvement of the Water Station on China Square. The subject of the competition will be determined in the near future. Among the options: the Nart epic, modern art and images of historical figures.

Georgy Atarov also noted that this year more than 20 events are planned, including competitions for young architects, urbanists and artists, an "Architectural workshop", which includes creative meetings, master classes and practical classes with construction industry specialists. Career guidance meetings for schoolchildren, exhibitions and the youth forum "Building Ossetia" will also be organized.
