In South Africa, animal rights activist Shoman van Jaarsveld, who devoted his life to protecting rhinos from poachers, was fatally wounded by a black rhino. This was announced on April 24 by the News24 portal.

"The director of an environmental protection company, who devoted his life to protecting rhinos, was killed by one of the animals he devoted his career to protecting," the article says.

Van Jaarsveld, who was 58 years old, headed Milk River Security, a security firm specializing in anti-poaching and rhino safety in various regions of South Africa.

At the time of the tragedy, he and his team were conducting morning patrols in the Samara-Karu Nature Reserve when he was unexpectedly attacked by a black rhino weighing 1.3 thousand kg. The man died on the spot.

The day before, the Daily Mail newspaper reported how five elephants trampled a millionaire hunter on safari in Africa. The businessman was in a dense rainforest accompanied by a professional hunter.
