Turkey is considering the possibility of participating in an international operation to clear the Strait of Hormuz, but only after reaching a peace agreement between the United States and Iran. This was stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan at a meeting with journalists in London, Al Jazeera TV reports.

According to the Turkish Foreign Minister, the mine clearance work will be carried out by a technical team, which may include representatives of different states. Turkey, as Fidan noted, does not exclude its participation in this initiative.

At the same time, the minister stressed that if the future international coalition becomes a tool for escalating the conflict, Ankara will reconsider its position.

In addition, Fidan expressed hope that issues related to Iran's nuclear program will be resolved at the next round of negotiations to be held in Pakistan.

On April 23, The Washington Post learned about the timing of the clearance of the Strait of Hormuz.: it may last six months and will begin only after the end of hostilities between the United States and Iran. It is specified that there may be about 20 or more Iranian mines in the strait.

The Wall Street Journal reported on April 19 that the United States is using drones to destroy mines planted in Hormuz. The publication noted that the American authorities do not provide specific figures on the number of ammunition and the associated risks. At the same time, everyone is convinced that this is necessary for the issue of ship safety.
