The director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Cash Patel, admitted that in his youth he was arrested twice for excessive alcohol consumption. This was announced on April 24 by The Intercept portal.

For the first time, the future head of the department was detained in February 2001. At that time, he was a junior at the university and had not yet reached the age of 21, the minimum age for legal alcohol consumption in the United States. The reason for the fine was Patel's defiant behavior: while intoxicated, he was too actively supporting the basketball team during the match.

It is specified that the second incident occurred in 2005. As an adult, Patel was arrested and fined again. This time, the reason for the detention was an attempt to relieve oneself in a public place after visiting a bar.

"Patel was arrested twice due to alcohol-related incidents: for being intoxicated in a public place and for urinating in public on leaving a bar. He acknowledged this in a 2005 letter to apply for attorney status in Florida," the newspaper said.

Bloomberg reported on February 25 that Democratic senators in the United States demanded to investigate the trip of the head of the FBI to the Olympics after the use of a company plane for personal purposes caused a delay in the arrival of agency agents at the scene of the mass shooting. Later, NBC News reported that the American leader Donald Trump was disappointed because Patel drank beer at the Olympic Games.
