Washington has no plans to extend the temporary withdrawal of Russian oil and petroleum products from American restrictions. This was announced on April 24 by American Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

"The United States does not plan to extend the permit for the purchase of Russian oil and petroleum products currently at sea," he said in an interview with the Associated Press (AP).

The head of the department also ruled out the issuance by the Ministry of Finance of a new general license that would allow the temporary sale of Iranian oil loaded onto tankers.

"Not for Iranians. We have a blockade, and oil is not coming in," concluded Bessent.

The US Treasury Department has renewed the license for the sale of Russian oil loaded on tankers until April 17. The permit will be valid until May 16.

At the same time, on April 14, the United States resumed sanctions against Russian oil loaded into tankers. It was clarified that the US Treasury had lifted restrictions against the background of the escalation of the situation in the Middle East and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, seeking to reduce energy prices.
