In Buryatia, the search for tourists on Mount Munku-Sardyk resumed
In Buryatia, the search for tourists trapped by an avalanche on Mount Munku-Sardyk has resumed. This was announced on April 25 in the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region.
"Search and rescue operations at the 26th Party Congress pass on Mount Munku-Sardyk in Buryatia have resumed," the ministry said in a statement on Monday.
15 rescuers went to the scene to search for three people. Earlier, the operation had to be interrupted due to adverse weather conditions and terrain features in the area.
On April 24, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the republic reported that four climbers were covered by an avalanche on a mountain in Buryatia. Rescuers found four tourists from a group trapped in an avalanche in Buryatia — three of them were injured, one died. Later, on April 25, a source from Izvestia reported that the number of tourists killed in an avalanche on a mountain in Buryatia had increased to two.
