Moshelovka warned about fraud with QR codes of electric scooters
Scammers paste fake QR codes on top of the real ones, after scanning which the user goes to a phishing site. This was reported by the press service of the Moshelovka platform of the Popular Front.
"With the onset of steady heat in April, seasonal bike and scooter rentals are opening in cities. Scammers paste their stickers with fake QR codes on top of the real codes," the press service said in a Telegram channel message.
It is noted that the target audience is mainly users who regularly rent such scooters, as well as young people and tourists. The press service advised to check the availability of only the original QR code before scanning, not to enter banking information that is requested on a dubious website, and also to use only original applications for renting electric scooters.
Director of the communication policy of the financial marketplace "I will choose.<url>" Anna Romanenko reported on April 24 that fraudsters in 2026 are increasingly targeting not direct theft of money, but access to user accounts and personal data. The expert also stressed that "chat relocation" schemes remain popular, when the user is asked to click on a link and enter a code, as well as attacks through fake banking applications and fake versions of messengers.
