- A rally against Germany's energy policy is taking place near the CDU headquarters in Berlin.
Hundreds of people gathered at a rally in front of the German Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party, which includes current German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, in Berlin to show their dissatisfaction with their country's energy policy. The footage is published by Izvestia on April 24.
"The protest against Germany's energy policy is taking place right under the windows of the Merz party," said Izvestia correspondent Margarita Kostiv, who visited the scene.
One of the protesters, a man named Stefan, said that many of his fellow citizens expect the coming of the so—called energy revolution. According to him, it should happen after the population finally runs out of gas. Based on this, he called his state's policy on this issue madness.
The head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, on the same day, speaking at a press conference following the informal EU summit in Cyprus, acknowledged the loss of €25 billion by the European Union (EU) due to rising prices in the energy market. The trend in which the alliance lost this amount, as she explained, began to be observed due to the war that the United States and Israel launched against Iran.
Glenn Diesen, a professor at the University of Southeastern Norway, called the EU member states' refusal to talk to Russia a manifestation of "mass psychosis" on April 22. In his opinion, the obsession of the European elites with the idea of supposedly defeating the Russian Federation prevents them from pursuing an adequate policy.
