Yerevan residents marched in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide

Thousands of people with flowers in their hands take part in a march through Yerevan, remembering the tragedy in the history of the Armenian people.
"This tragedy is remembered all over the world, on four continents. 34 countries have officially recognized the Armenian Genocide," Harutyunyan said.
One of the participants of the action said that the pain of the tragedy cannot be forgotten.
"We come every year if we are in Armenia. We brought here the pain, the sacrifice of my people, the genocide. <...> We want to show the whole world that we remember," she said.
On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his greeting to the participants of commemorative events dedicated to the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, said that the policy of mass extermination and deportation of people based on nationality cannot be justified. Putin called the massacre of defenseless people one of the worst tragedies of the last century.
A torchlight procession dedicated to the commemoration of the victims of the Armenian genocide in the early 20th century began in Yerevan on April 23. The protesters gathered in Republic Square, from where the column moved through the central streets of the city. People are carrying lighted torches and national flags. Later, Izvestia published the footage. The marchers do not shout slogans, but silently honor the collective memory.
