A court in the Urals sentenced a 20-year-old girl for the deaths of three people in an accident.

A court in Nizhny Tagil in the Sverdlovsk region sentenced a 20-year-old resident of Khanty–Mansi Autonomous Okrug -Yugra for the deaths of three people in an accident. This is reported by the regional prosecutor's office and the joint press service of the courts of the region.

The accident occurred on the night of July 12, 2025 on the 147th km of the Yekaterinburg -Serov highway, located in the Leninsky district of Nizhny Tagil. A Subaru Forester car flew into oncoming traffic and crashed into a Lada Granta.

A car collision resulted in the death of a 58-year-old Lada driver and two of his female passengers, aged 60 and 66. The driver of the foreign car turned out to be a 20-year–old resident of the city of Sovetsky in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra, who did not have a driver's license of the appropriate category. Her 54-year-old father was in the car with her, and the man was seriously injured.

The girl was tried under clause "b" of Part 6 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of traffic rules, which negligently resulted in the death of three people, committed by a person who does not have a driver's license."The court found her guilty and sentenced her to eight years in prison to be served in a penal colony. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.

According to the <url> news agency, during the trial, the victims filed a motion to terminate the criminal case in connection with the reconciliation of the parties, but the court refused them. Meanwhile, the prosecutor's office notes that the girl did not actually admit her guilt.

In February, a court in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District sentenced a motorist who got behind the wheel drunk and caused a fatal accident. At a speed of over 100 km/h, he drove into oncoming traffic to overtake several cars at once, but abruptly decided to turn back. Twisting the steering wheel to the right, he crashed into a special vehicle that was clearing the road. His passenger died on the spot.
