Kovalchuk pointed to the ability of the Russian Federation to fully produce turbojet engines.

Russia is one of the four countries in the world capable of independently providing a full cycle of production of turbojet engines. This was announced on April 24 by Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center.

According to him, in addition to the Russian Federation, only the United States, Great Britain and France have such technologies. Kovalchuk stressed that Russia is currently in a situation where import substitution in the aviation sector has been largely completed, which has become possible thanks to the decisions of the president and the work of the government.

"We are the only country in the world that can fully develop and make a modern aircraft from start to finish. Any Boeing or Airbus, they have dozens of countries in cooperation. We have to, but we do it ourselves," said the head of the Kurchatov Institute.

Kovalchuk noted the special importance of Rybinsk, Yaroslavl region, as a scientific and industrial cluster where high technologies are concentrated. The city is home to one of the largest Saturn UEC plants, as well as a specialized university and enterprises related to shipbuilding.
The President of the Kurchatov Institute added that the country has formed a unified scientific and technical policy, which involves leading scientific institutions, federal and local authorities, as well as such technology giants.

"We have engines, <...> we produce more in one part there than the whole world. In other words, we have retained the Soviet base and moved on to a new level. Now our task is to determine our technological leadership and independence," he said.
