Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the structure of the labor market, transforming the content of professions and increasing the demand for digital skills. Automation primarily affects routine processes, but it does not lead to mass layoffs, but redistributes the demand for specialists. At the same time, experts point out the risks for certain categories of employees and the need to adapt businesses and employees. All the details are in the Izvestia article.

How does a business implement AI and what challenges does it face?

Russian companies are cautiously introducing AI into their hiring processes. According to research by Defin and AIMIKA, only 12% of employers actively use technology at several stages of recruitment. At the same time, 29% plan to implement it in 2026, while 18% do not consider such solutions.

AI is most often used for the initial selection of resumes and automation of routine tasks. However, efficiency remains ambiguous: some companies note the acceleration of processes, while others point to errors in algorithms. Experts point out that the risks are related to the inaccuracy of technology and legal aspects.

At the same time, experts emphasize the need to invest in employee training. Businesses often invest in technology faster than in staff development. In his opinion, without synchronization of these processes, the effectiveness of AI remains limited.

In addition, psychologists point to an increased workload for employees. Veronika Akhmetova, a psychologist and member of the Association for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, believes that working with AI can reduce the sense of the importance of work and cause burnout.

"A person ceases to see in his own work the result of his intelligence, some kind of growth. He, in fact, turns into an appendage of the machine, and this destroys the sense of meaningfulness of his own activities," the specialist noted.

Maria Galkina, a practicing psychologist and cognitive behavioral therapist, notes that constant task switching increases stress and requires additional support measures from employers.

What is happening to professions against the background of the introduction of AI

Ilona Platonova, an analyst at Adviros HR company, told Izvestia that the content of professions is changing in traditional industries. For example, in the agro-industrial complex (AIC), milkmen are increasingly working as machine milking operators with skills in working with digital systems. Experts point out that the basic requirement is the ability to interact with technological interfaces.

The main impact of AI is related to the automation of routine processes and the growing demand for technology managers. The focus is shifting from large-scale digital transformation to supporting existing systems. As a result, the market is adapting to new conditions rather than experiencing a drastic job cuts.

"Changes in the market are not destructive, but adaptive. AI does not create a wave of layoffs — it redistributes demand towards digital competencies. In conditions of a structural shortage of personnel and restrained demand, businesses use technology not to replace people, but to increase productivity and sustainability of teams. The labor market doesn't break down — it learns to work in a new way," the expert emphasized.

Which categories of employees are at risk?

Employees engaged in routine office work remain the most vulnerable. Accountants, HR specialists and operators are more often faced with automation of functions, independent specialist Anna Alikova told Izvestia. According to her, such tasks are easier to transfer to programs, which reduces the demand for employees.

It is reported that reductions are observed in government agencies and the banking sector. Similar processes occur in enterprises with declining demand for products. At the same time, the number of cases of transfer of employees to part-time employment is growing.

At the same time, there is still a demand for working professions, medical specialists and experienced IT personnel. The demand for logistics is increasing against the background of changing supply chains. According to experts, the market is gradually shifting towards employers, and job seekers are becoming less demanding.
