Zakharova suggested calling Callas the EU's "low representative" for diplomacy
It is time to call the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kai Kallas, a "low representative". This was announced on April 24 by Maria Zakharova, Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"By the way, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaya Kallas, explicitly stated this (about interference in Serbia's internal politics — Ed.), although, judging by her statements, she should have been called a "low representative" for a long time," she said.
Answering a question about EU interference in Serbia's internal political processes, Zakharova noted that the European Union, under the pretext of "observing conditions for rapprochement," deprives independent countries of the opportunity to pursue a sovereign policy. She also pointed out that Brussels officials are expanding the EU not for the sake of the welfare of new member states, but for their own selfish interests.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on April 18 that he felt calm while the European Union was governed by politicians such as the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas. Lavrov recalled Kallas' words that Russia had allegedly attacked at least 19 countries over the past 100 years, not counting African countries. At the same time, the politician did not specify which countries she was referring to. He expressed hope that the peoples of European countries would realize "the value of such leaders" and would be able to give them what they deserved.
Zakharova stated on April 1 that Callas' statements demonstrate gaps in the knowledge of the school curriculum. She also drew attention to the past experience of the head of the European Diplomacy in Estonia and recalled that earlier the local court had already ordered the politician to withdraw public statements that were found to be factually unreliable.
