Elena Kopyrina, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of the Provincial College in the Moscow region, spoke on Friday, April 24, about the final stage of the professional skills championship "Professional 2026" in the competence of "Cynology" held at the educational institution.

This year, contestants from eight regions of Russia came together with their mentors, including the Republic of Karelia, which took part in the event for the first time.

"In fact, the participants complete tasks in five modules, and only the first of them is working with a dog. The special feature of this module is that the participants arrive without their pets. As a federal platform, we provide them with volunteers with dogs who will be their partners at the championship," Kopyrina said in an interview with Radio 1.

However, she added that the dog that will need to be tested is chosen randomly by drawing lots, while the organizers provided participants with the opportunity to meet future partners on the eve of the event.

"When choosing partner dogs, we focus more on the character of the dog, on how socialized it is, because no one has canceled safety measures," she said.

Kopyrina noted that the participants receive a cash bonus for winning the championship. In addition, winning the championship is an indicator of professionalism, and employers are happy to hire winners, she added.

Earlier that day, Vera Mitina, director of the Nika Foundation, told the Moscow City News agency that a pet compatibility test would be available at the Woof festival in the capital.

At the beginning of 2026, the average cost of admission to a veterinarian and vaccination of animals increased by a third. An average doctor's appointment has become 857 rubles, and vaccination — 2022 rubles, according to 360.ru .

Cynologist and veterinarian Vladimir Urazhevsky, in a conversation with the NSN, noted that much depends on which vaccine is used — imported or domestic. According to him, the cost of the domestic vaccine has increased slightly and remains affordable.

In February, veterinarian Taisiya Ilyina told Izvestia that before getting a pet, it is necessary to assess your budget, life circumstances, and the availability of additional time to ensure the comfort of the animal. In particular, she advised to study and memorize the basic parameters of the pet's health beforehand.
