Key skills of the future for students are named
New specialties do not displace classical education, but are formed on its basis through the integration of technology. Maria Todorova, a family psychologist and child development consultant, told Izvestia about this on April 24.
"Classical education is not disappearing, but is becoming the basis for new interdisciplinary professions. It is fundamental training that allows graduates to retrain during their lifetime," she noted.
According to the expert, traditional areas are being transformed: mechanics is complemented by robotics, electrical engineering by intelligent systems, and programming by machine learning. Todorova emphasized that it is no longer enough for a modern child to simply master a set of knowledge.
"The future belongs to those who can think flexibly, work in a team, quickly learn new things, withstand uncertainty and take responsibility for decisions," she explained.
According to her, in the next 5-10 years, professions at the junction of different spheres will become especially in demand. At the same time, the specialist noted that technological development does not negate the importance of the human factor.
"Therefore, even in the age of autonomous systems, society will especially need professions related to education, psychology, mentoring and human development. The more technologically advanced the world becomes, the higher the value of specialists who know how to work with people," concluded Todorova.
On April 23, the head of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Valery Falkov, said that due to drastic technological changes in the world, it is necessary to rethink the concept of higher education in all its key manifestations. He stressed that technological changes are comparable in scale to historical periods that changed people's way of life, and education cannot but change. At the same time, he admitted that it was not completely clear what exactly needed to be changed.
