At a meeting on April 24, the Board of Directors of the Bank of Russia decided to continue the cycle of monetary policy easing, which began in June last year, and decided to reduce the key rate by 0.5 percentage points (pp) from 15 to 14.5% per annum.

In a press release, the regulator noted that this measure is related to the gradual convergence of the dynamics of domestic demand with the possibilities of expanding the supply of goods and services.

At the same time, the Central Bank stressed that the indicators of steady price growth have not yet shown a decrease and remain at the level of 4-5% in annual terms. There is also uncertainty related to the external conditions and parameters of fiscal policy.
