The lawyer proposed to change the rules of housing transactions in Russia
Current legislation does not always protect bona fide home buyers and needs to be improved. This was stated on April 24 by Maxim Peshkov, a lawyer and expert at the Foundation for the Support of Citizens Affected by Crimes, at the Izvestia News Center at a press conference on "Fraud in the real estate market.": how to protect the rights of bona fide buyers?".
"A capable person is primarily responsible for his actions and their consequences," he said, referring to the position of the Supreme Court.
According to the expert, in practice, responsibility is often shifted to the buyer, even if he has taken all possible measures to verify the transaction. We are talking about cases when documents, medical certificates are checked, as well as banks, mortgage mechanisms and notaries are involved.
He suggested considering the possibility of introducing additional protection mechanisms, including the creation of a system for mandatory verification of the seller's condition before the transaction or a special procedure for the sale of a single home.
