There have been 239 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.
Over the past day, 239 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 18 people were killed and 280 injured. 11 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on April 24 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
26 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, but 37 road users, including five children, required medical assistance. 11 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
In Zheleznogorsk (Krasnoyarsk Territory), in the early morning, a 60-year-old bus driver with eight passengers in the cabin drove off the road, after which the car crashed into a tree. As a result of the accident, two bus passengers were hospitalized with injuries, and the elderly driver and four other passengers were sent for outpatient treatment after receiving medical care.
As a result of 75 accidents, 34 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 41 outside their area of operation, seven pedestrians were killed, and 69 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 20 underage pedestrians, 39 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas.
There were also 39 accidents involving minors, in which 41 young road users, including 15 passengers, were injured. Two children were killed, one of whom was a passenger on an ATV, and the other was a pedestrian. So, in a forest area near one of the rural settlements of the Krasnodar Territory, a 15-year-old schoolboy lost control of an ATV and overturned a vehicle. As a result of the accident, his eight-year-old brother died, who, like the driver, was on an ATV without a helmet and protective equipment.
In one of the mountain settlements of the Republic of Adygea, a 48-year-old passenger car driver ran over a 12-year-old schoolboy who was unaccompanied by an adult standing on the left side of the car without a purpose for crossing it. The boy died. After hitting a pedestrian, the car of the culprit collided with another passenger vehicle parked in the parking lot.
On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate recommended that parents be more attentive to their children: do not leave them alone on the street unattended, accompany them to educational classes in sports clubs or clubs. The lack of control over their behavior and leisure time often leads to injuries or deaths of young road users, the department stressed.
"In addition, we urge drivers to strictly follow the rules of the road and be more attentive and disciplined on the roads of towns and cities, especially when turning into the surrounding area and driving in a residential area. When passing through such places, we recommend that you slow down to the minimum speed in advance in order to stop the vehicle or maneuver without consequences: the behavior of elderly people and child pedestrians on the road is very often unpredictable," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, announced on April 20 that a bill to increase the maximum amount of insurance payments for CTP from 500,000 to 2 million rubles could be adopted as early as May 2026. He pointed out that a significant increase in CTP tariffs is not expected, since the main financial burden will be placed on the perpetrators of road accidents.
Later, the Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RSA) stated that, according to its estimates, an increase in the limit on life and health insurance payments would lead to an increase in the cost of the policy — an increase in the average premium could be about 10%.
