Procedures using fire and alcohol can lead to severe burns and serious health consequences. Alexander Umnov, senior lecturer at the Department of Surgery at the Medical Faculty of the State University of Education, told Izvestia on April 24.

"There is a high risk that the fire will spread from one covered area to others," he noted.

According to the expert, such practices can cause not only superficial, but also deep burns, including damage to muscles and bones. Such injuries are accompanied by prolonged healing, dehydration of the body and a violation of the water-electrolyte balance.

The expert stressed that the consequences can be extremely severe. These include the formation of coarse scars, damage to the mucous membrane of the eyes with the risk of vision loss, as well as burns to the respiratory tract.

"During the "acts of burning the face," alcohol or its vapors may get on the mucous membrane of the eyes and burn it, and as a result, vision loss," Umnov explained.

He added that in severe cases, complications are possible, including pneumothorax, infections, and decreased breathing volume, which can lead to disability and the need for surgery. The expert noted that such procedures have no proven effectiveness.

"All the promises to get rid of cellulite in this way are nothing more than a marketing ploy that is dangerous to health. And promises to get rid of pain — if only one pain can be replaced with another, then yes," he concluded.
