- In China, the number of vacancies in the field of robotics has increased by more than 400%
In China, amid the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, the need for qualified personnel has increased dramatically. In the first five months of 2025, the number of vacancies in the humanoid robot sector increased by 409% compared to the same period last year, while the number of applicants increased by 396%, Xinhua reported, citing data from the Zhaopin recruitment platform.
The development of the industry has led to the emergence of new specialties, such as robot trainer. At the Hubei Province Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, specialists use virtual reality headsets and motion capture suits to train machines for household and industrial tasks. By synchronizing the operator's actions, humanoid robots learn to perform complex manipulations, including making coffee and working with industrial equipment.
"The robotics industry needs not only highly qualified developers, but also personnel capable of system design, commissioning, installation, operation and maintenance," said Song Rui, professor at the Institute of Management Sciences and Engineering at Shandong University.
According to him, the demand for AI specialists will continue to grow at an explosive pace, and the prospects for this labor market remain extensive.
At the beginning of the month, five key departments of the PRC, including the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Industry and Informatization, published a joint action plan "AI + education". The document provides for the promotion of personnel training, the integration of technology into the educational process and the strengthening of basic infrastructure. The country's universities have already started launching specialized programs in partnership with technology giants. So, in the last decade of March 2026, the first specialized robotics class opened in Beijing.
According to the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, cited by Xinhua, sales of robots with embodied AI increased by 13% in the first two months of this year compared to the same period last year.
On April 22, it was reported that restaurants opened in Hangzhou, China, where robots using artificial intelligence (AI) scan the face and tongue of visitors to recommend dishes that are beneficial to their health. As specified, there are at least three similar establishments in the Xihu area. Eight robots are installed in one of the restaurants, which take orders, serve tables, clean the room and prepare meals. They take over 60% of the total work of the kitchen staff.
